SUMMARY:ACEDS Webinar and In-Person Event: Artificial Intelligence and Employment Considerations
DESCRIPTION:Webinar and In-Person Event: Artificial Intelligence and Employment Considerations\nDate: Monday\, July 24\, 2023 \nTime: 11:00am CDT \nRegister: Click Here to Register \nSummary \nArtificial Intelligence and Employment Considerations\nShareef Farag\, Partner\, BakerHostetler (LA)James A. Sherer\, Partner\, BakerHostetler (NY)Ariana Dindiyal\, Associate\, BakerHostetler (NY)Brittany Yantis\, Associate\, BakerHostetler (DC)Fulton Wald\, Associate\, BakerHostetler (NY) \nProgram outline: \nAI is set to affect many disciplines\, but its effects carry similar themes. \nThis presentation discusses AI practice development in the context of job applications according to these themes: \nCreation of new information at scale. Present-day job openings are oversaturated with applications\, and many HR departments cannot handle the quantity of applications\, thus look to AI to help sort through them. \nUse of outsourced “black box” technology. As with other AI applications\, many HR departments out-source these tools to third party vendors without knowing exactly how the vendors function. \nPotential for Bias and back-end audits. Vendors may promote the use of AI not based in science\, and/or that relies on biased data sets without self-auditing: this means vendors could be picking candidates who were chosen by biased AI\, and the employer might be unaware of this. \nNew Law. Laws in cities and states have cropped up regarding Automated Employment Decision Tools (AEDT)\, such as in NYC which now requires employers to disclose when they use AEDT and conduct bias audits to ensure their AI is fair. \nOther Legal/Adjacent Standards. “Soft Law” and other similar ethical approaches (e.g.\, from NIST and the EEOC) can also offer guidance to employers to help avoid lawsuits based on biased AI (or to mitigate their effects). \nFor those wishing to attend via Zoom. \nYou ‘re invited to a Zoom webinar. \nWhen: Jul 24\, 2023 12:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) \nTopic: NY Chapter: Artificial Intelligence and Employment Considerations – Resume Review as a Fact Pattern for AI Practice \nPlease click the link below to join the webinar: \nhttps://zoom.us/j/94145320563?pwd=VTloQ24xaGhrTzdFNnJ4L3BuWEt6dz09 \nPasscode: 825439 \n  \nHosted by ACEDS | 24 Jul 2023 @ 11:00am CDT \nInterested in more eDiscovery? As everyone stampedes toward technologies such as ChatGPT\, the FOMO (fear of missing out) is high across many industries\, legal being just one of them. However\, just because you can leverage a powerful solution doesn’t mean you should. While large language models like ChatGPT have demonstrated impressive capabilities that could help automate many areas of business\, enterprises must reflect on the strengths\, weaknesses\, opportunities\, and threats before implementing it or identifying other solutions that may align with your organization’s specific needs. \nIn this educational roundtable\, technology leaders\, data scientists\, and legal industry experts will discuss why legal departments should educate themselves about AI before jumping on the bandwagon. They’ll also uncover what enterprises should consider when evaluating AI for enterprise management of voluminous and complex collaboration data so that organizations can ensure their AI systems are trustworthy\, explainable\, transparent\, fair\, robust\, and secure. Panelists will discuss the following: \n\nthe differences/similarities between AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (machine learning)\nhow large language models (LLMs) can help\, and why they have become such a big deal lately\nhow NLP (natural language processing) works in concert with other technologies\nthe potential security risks around today’s AI/ML technologies\nthe broader concerns with using AI and the higher stakes legal must manage with sensitive company data and IP\nenterprise considerations before incorporating AI in legal workflows\n\nSponsored by: \n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nAidan Randle-Conde\nDirector of Data Science\nHanzo\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShivam Solanki\nSenior Data Scientist\nIBM\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDave Ruel\nVP of Product\nHanzo\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMike Quartararo\nPresident\nACEDS\n\n\n\nHosted by Hanzo | 26 Jul 2023 @ 12:00pm CT \nInterested in more eDiscovery? DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Uncovering Hidden Data: How to Collect the Mobile Data your Investigation is Missing\nDate: Thursday\, August 10\, 2023 \nTime: 12:00 pm CT \nRegister: Click Here to Register \nSummary \nUncovering Hidden Data: How to Collect the Mobile Data your Investigation is Missing\nThe amount of data stored on phones is overwhelming. \nIn 95% of investigations\, text messages and conversations are used as evidence sources. \nInvestigators need to be able to be able to retrieve the full\, comprehensive picture of what’s on a device and do so quickly and efficiently. With advanced collection capabilities\, investigators can access collaborative third-party chat application data\, chat conversations\, location data\, emails stored on the device\, system and application logs\, and even deleted data. \nWhether you are collecting from departing employees as a routine best practice\, collecting regularly from third party chat applications to stay compliant with regulation\, or working on a specific case to find implicating evidence\, accessing the full\, comprehensive picture of what’s on a device is necessary. \nIf investigators can collect all the data from full file system to even deleted data\, then they are more likely to find all the data needed to support investigations and litigation. \nJoin Monica Harris\, Product Business Manager\, as she showcases how the most advanced collection capabilities are now within reach for organizations of all sizes.
