In the second article in a two-part article series in ALM’s Law Journal Newsletters Cybersecurity Law & Strategy dedicated to examining the evolving landscape of e-discovery for legal professionals titled Making the Leap: Practical Guidance for Migrating to RelativityOne (written by Adarsh Haltore and available here), Haltore discusses how the transition from on-premise e-discovery systems to a cloud-native platform like RelativityOne is now at the heart of legal technology strategy for organizations racing to modernize discovery, compliance, and client service. While the promise of greater scalability, automated upgrades, and advanced analytics is motivating, a RelativityOne migration is a journey, rich in both complexity and opportunity.

That doesn’t mean it’s easy.

As Haltore notes in the article, “Initiating a RelativityOne migration is a complex process requiring thorough preparation well before any data transfer occurs. The migration strategy will vary depending on whether the organization opts for a self-managed approach or engages with a Relativity-certified migration partner. Organizations with established e-discovery teams and robust internal expertise may consider a self-service migration suitable. However, it is more common for organizations to collaborate with Relativity- certified migration partners. There are numerous benefits to working with a partner, as they possess substantial experience with migrations from vari- ous review platforms to RelativityOne, understand common challenges, and apply best practices to ensure an efficient data migration.”
