Last Thursday was E-Discovery Day and ACEDS hosted a webinar with Hanzo to discuss highlights from the 2022 Collaboration Data Benchmarking Report!
This is the third year of the survey for the 2022 Collaboration Data Benchmarking Report conducted with industry professionals on the importance of collaborative data sources to their business and:
- retention policies, preservation methods, and confidence in their processes; scoping data
- collections, how teams respond to discovery requests, and their belief in collection methods;
- investment roadmap, and legal professionals’ most significant concerns regarding collaboration data.
There were 64 total respondents from corporate legal teams (36.5%), law firms (36.5%), service providers (19.0%) and other respondents (7.9%). A couple of key highlights from the report:
- Microsoft Teams has taken a dominant market lead across collaboration platforms growing to a whopping 79.2% in 2022 from 55% in 2021. That’s more than ten times the number of Slack respondents (7.5%), with 13.2% using a combination of platforms.
- 73.3% of respondents said that either the entire organization (38.3%) or certain teams (35.0%) can’t live without collaboration platforms today.
- 63.49% of respondents have organization-wide retention policies in place for collaboration content, up from 55% in 2021.
- 26.42% of respondents now say that they use collaboration tools’ built-in discovery capabilities to respond to discovery requests, compared with 18.6% in 2021.
On Thursday, highlights of the 2022 Collaboration Data Benchmarking Report and general trends involving collaboration apps were discussed by Mike Quartararo, President of ACEDS; Dave Ruel, Head of Product at Hanzo; Lawrence Briggi, Manager e-Discovery Legal Specialist Team at IBM and Ryan Zilm, Enterprise Records Manager at Motiva.
