Jeff Chivers of Syllo Thought Leader Interview: eDiscovery Trends

Time for another thought leader interview on eDiscovery Today! This time, I’m interviewing Jeff Chivers. CEO of Syllo!

Before launching Syllo, Jeff Chivers spent more than ten years of his career in litigation with Sullivan & Cromwell, The Employment Rights Group and Chivers LLP. He clerked for the Honorable Pamela K. Chen of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and clerked for the Honorable Thomas L. Ambro of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He holds admission to the bars of New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and six U.S. District Courts. Jeff is also a visiting lecturer in law at Yale law school, where he has taught courses in Artificial Intelligence, the Legal Profession, and Procedure. In 2019, Jeff founded Syllo, a first-of-its-kind software system for litigation – and a new educational partner of eDiscovery Today!

Jeff and I covered a lot of topics, ranging from how Syllo got started and what makes Syllo unique to Syllo’s real-world experiences with clients using the technology to how the pace of acceptance for GenAI will compare to that of TAR and Syllo’s approach to pricing your platform and generative AI capabilities.

We also discussed whether Jeff thinks that larger law firms will adjust their pricing to leverage technology more or stick with the billable hour model, his recommendations regarding how to maximize the benefits of transformative technologies like GenAI and Syllo’s focus on transforming the litigation process, not just discovery.
