Once in a lifetime

Once in a Lifetime is a Great Way to Look at Legalweek 2022: Legal Tech Trends

There’s always room for one more wrap-up look at Legalweek 2022 and Onna does so in a musical way with the Talking Heads song Once in a Lifetime. Was last week’s conference “same as it ever was”?

As they note in their post Top trends and insights from Legalweek 2022, most of the attendees remarked that this conference was the first in-person event that they attended in over two years — the last being in early 2020 just before the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns began in New York City. With two years having gone by, people were energized and refreshed to be back, and the conversations that flowed were illuminating of the ideas that had come up during our time away from each other.

Onna goes on to provide some general key takeaways from the conference, including the conversations and sessions that took place ranged from judges debating “hypothetical” cases (based on cases that really happened) to data ethics and various discovery, information governance, and artificial intelligence trends and best practices. They also provide perspective through the Onna lens, including their announcement of our new In-place Preservation feature, their session on the Great Resignation (a topic that Scott McVeigh and I will be covering in a webinar at the end of the month) and their $10K contest giveaway!

As I’ve noted already, I think the enthusiasm of being at an in-person event (after two years for many people) made Legalweek 2022 a “once in a lifetime” event! We will never appreciate the ability to gather together in-person quite like we did last week! Check out their post here for more observations about Legalweek!

So, what do you think?  Did you attend Legalweek? Do you agree it was a “once in a lifetime” event? Or “same as it ever was”?  Please share any comments you might have or if you’d like to know more about a particular topic.
