AI is Coming to Microsoft 365 in Several Ways: Artificial Intelligence Trends

I’ve already discussed Microsoft Copilot, but, as Ryan Hemmel of ProSearch discusses, AI is coming to Microsoft 365 in several ways!

Ryan’s article (AI Is Coming To Microsoft 365: What You Need to Know, published in Law Journal Newsletters and available here) discusses how, for those using Microsoft 365, AI-powered tools are rapidly becoming a reality, as Microsoft has introduced and announced several applications with AI-driven components, including Microsoft Viva, Microsoft Teams Premium, and Microsoft Copilot.

These tools seek to reduce the amount of time employees spend on menial, repetitive tasks such as drafting emails or searching for information, freeing them up to focus on more creative and strategic work. Per Microsoft’s 2023 Work Trend Index Report, 68% of those surveyed indicated that they did not have enough uninterrupted focus time during their workday. While there is some trepidation over the possibility of AI replacing jobs, with 49% of those surveyed in the Work Trend Index indicating concern about that possibility, there is even more enthusiasm over its potential to lighten workloads, as 70% said that they would delegate as much work as possible to AI tools.

Ryan’s two-page article proceeds to discuss each of the Microsoft applications – Microsoft Viva, Microsoft Teams Premium, and Microsoft Copilot – in terms of the AI technology capabilities which are being added. And he discusses eDiscovery and compliance considerations of the added capabilities in terms of “huge” productivity gains that will be possible, as well as challenges that leveraging AI brings. AI is coming to Microsoft 365 in several ways! Check out his article here to find out how.

Ryan will also be a panelist at next week’s ILTACON conference session titled The Multiverse of Metaverse Madness: Preparing Legal for the New Dimension on Tuesday 8/22 at 3:30pm (see my preview post here for more information).

So, what do you think? Are you going to use the new AI features in M365? Please share any comments you might have or if you’d like to know more about a particular topic.
