I’m excited to be conducting the presentation on Considerations for Leveraging Generative AI in Legal Writing! The session will discuss some of the benefits and challenges of leveraging generative AI tools in legal writing, including a look at the current landscape of generative AI in the courts, current options for AI research and writing, factors to consider when using AI in generating content, and how prompt engineering can be applied to optimize responses from large language models. The session will include a live demonstration of the capabilities and challenges of generative AI models, using GPT-4.

Important Note: Harassment, including sexual harassment, continues to be a problem at conferences, and in society in general. Here is a recent post I published regarding incidents that occurred at this year’s Legalweek conference that also has resources with more information (suggestions for additional resources welcome). Let’s make conferences and our workplaces safe for everyone.

  1. Since the term “master” is being retired from other usages (e.g., master bedroom, special master. master/slave in computing), how long beforethe Masters Conference is called something else? Is its leadership considering (or resisting) a change?

  2. I don’t know the answer to that, Craig. But I guess that Kaylee Walstad is going to have to come up with a new nickname for “Special Master Ball”, right? 😉

  3. She has changed to VSMB, kind of like the NAACP, where we elide over the origins of the initialization (and its offensive character) for historical reasons.
