Shawn Huston on the eDiscovery Channel Talking Hyperlinked Files: eDiscovery Trends

Tom O’Connor & I had a special discussion on his popular eDiscovery Channel interview series, discussing hyperlinked files with Shawn Huston!

Shawn has been in the industry a long time, all the way back to the IKON and Night Rider days of the early nineties and has been Managing Partner of LSP Data Solutions for over 8 1/2 years. So, he knows a thing or two because he’s seen a thing or two. Or 200,000.

In our interview, Shawn, Tom and I discussed the current hyperlinked files challenge in eDiscovery. While we briefly touched on the cases that we’ve seen recently (including three in six weeks here, here and here), much of our discussion was focused on the tools that we’re trying to work with to address the hyperlinked files challenge, especially Google Vault and Microsoft Purview, but also eDiscovery collection tools like Forensic Email Collector from Metaspike.

Our discussion with Shawn included some of the searching and collections challenges associated with Google Vault, similar challenges experienced with Microsoft Purview, preservation considerations for the files being linked, best practices for dealing with current shortcomings, whether Google and Microsoft are highly motivated to address these challenges in the short term, our predictions on when good solutions will be available and more!

It was a fun discussion with Shawn! Check out our interview with Shawn Huston here or below via the eDiscovery Channel!

So, what do you think? Who should Tom and I add to our interview queue? Please share any comments you might have or if you’d like to know more about a particular topic.
