We’re now less than two weeks away from this year’s ILTACON, which starts Sunday, August 11th! Here’s the ILTACON 2024 Word Cloud to give you a sense of the primary topics being discussed!
ILTACON 2024 will be conducted August 11 through 15 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN. In fact, three of the next four years, ILTACON will be at the Gaylord in Nashville, with the conference in 2025 coming back to the Gaylord National in National Harbor, MD, which is outside of Washington DC.
As I like to do for conferences like this, I took this year’s detailed agenda and ran the session titles and descriptions through a word cloud generator. I then reviewed the first cut of it and removed some obvious words from the list: legal, session, learn, learning, explore, law, firm, firms and join. I probably could have removed some other obvious words as well (e.g., technology) but didn’t want to go too far with it. The ILTACON 2024 Word Cloud shown above is the result I got.
Here are some notable terms that occur frequently:
- “data” is the top occurring word at 63 times, barely beating out “AI”, which occurred 62 times. However, if you add “genAI” (15 times) and “artificial intelligence” (3 times), AI related terms total 80 times overall (not counting “copilot” which occurred 9 more times). Last year, AI related terms only occurred 31 times.
- Those terms were followed by “management” (43 times), and “technology” (39 times, but “technologies” appears another 12 times), then “tools” (34 times), and “strategies” and “use” (29 times each).
- “eDiscovery” occurs 29 times and “discovery” occurs twice, way more than last year’s 8 times total. Big jump!
- “security” occurs 15 times and “cyber” (either by itself or as part of another word like “cybersecurity”) occurs 12 times.
- “litigation” occurs 9 times (compared with 7 last year), while “support” also occurs 9 times, with “litigation support” occurring 5 times overall.
- “governance” occurs 7 times (compared with 6 last year), six of which occur in “information governance”.
- “privacy” only occurs 3 times (compared with 7 last year).
Hopefully, the ILTACON 2024 Word Cloud gives you some sense of what’s being covered at this year’s ILTACON – way more sessions related to AI, also more sessions related to eDiscovery, comparable session counts for cybersecurity, litigation support, information governance, hardly any sessions on privacy.
I’ll be covering the conference as press again this year and I’m excited to be a panelist in the session After the Gold Rush: Will AI Destroy the Profitability of eDiscovery? on Wednesday, August 14th at 2pm. I’ll be presenting along with David Stanton, Partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP and Chantelle Jalland, Managing Director at J.S. Held! Join us for some bold predictions on how AI will impact the eDiscovery market!
I’ll highlight that session and a few other notable sessions in a preview later as we get closer to the conference. Stay tuned!
