Time for another thought leader interview on eDiscovery Today! This time, I’m interviewing Dr. Dave Lewis of Nextpoint!
Dave Lewis is widely respected as a researcher, inventor, writer, educator, and thought leader in legal technology and academic computer science. He has led innovative efforts in AI ethics, including co-chairing the EDRM working group on AI Ethics and Bias.
Dave’s work has spanned four decades, including leading the development of AI and analytics technologies at Bell Labs, AT&T Labs, Brainspace, and Reveal, and consulting to numerous other technology companies. He also has extensive experience as a user of eDiscovery technologies, having worked as a consultant and expert witness on multiple high profile and multi-billion dollar litigations. Throughout his career, Dave has collaborated with university researchers to drive AI technology forward, leading to several best paper awards and his election as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
And he has just announced the next step in his career today, as Chief Scientific Officer at Nextpoint!
Many of my thought leader interviews in the past have been published in print form, but Dave agreed to conduct and publish this one as a video interview!
Dave and I covered a lot of topics, ranging from why he chose to come to Nextpoint and what he’s looking to accomplish there, Nextpoint’s place in the legal technology industry, where Dave thinks we are with adoption of genAI and where he thinks we will head over the next year, challenges that Dave sees with GenAI adoption and what we need to do to overcome those challenges for genAI to reach its full potential, will GenAI complement technology assisted review (TAR) or eventually replace it, other technological developments in eDiscovery we aren’t talking about enough, and more!
You can check out the interview with Dr. Dave Lewis below and also in the eDiscovery Today YouTube channel here! His background is out of this world! 🤣
So, what do you think? Are you looking for a discussion of a wide range of eDiscovery and AI topics? If so, check out the interview with Dave! And please share any comments you might have or if you’d like to know more about a particular topic.
