AI Is Not an “Easy Button”

A recurring theme throughout the panel addressed the misconception that AI serves as a simple, plug-and-play solution. The reality is far more nuanced. AI requires human involvement at multiple stages, including:

• Training models: AI systems must be trained with relevant data, requiring human oversight to refine and improve outputs.
• Model selection: Different tasks require different AI models, and selecting the right one is critical for effective outcomes.
• Tuning and validation: Human expertise ensures that AI systems function optimally and align with specific legal use cases.
• Contextual integration: AI-generated outputs must be analyzed and incorporated into the broader legal strategy, requiring skilled professionals to interpret results.

The panelists stressed that, much like any other technology-assisted solution, AI must be monitored and validated by experienced professionals to ensure accuracy, compliance, and defensibility.
