Exterro and EDRM are conducting a Comprehensive AI Adoption and Strategy Survey on legal professionals’ opinions about AI use today.
The Comprehensive AI Adoption and Strategy Survey (available here) is designed to capture legal professionals’ opinions about AI use today, potential use cases, risks, benefits, and goals.
The results of the 20-question survey will form the basis of an educational report to be issued later in 2026. This survey is anonymous. Responses are reported in aggregate only, and your answers will not be used for sales or marketing follow-up. At the end of the survey, you may optionally share your email address to be notified when the final report is released and when a webinar reviewing the results is scheduled.
In addition to demographic questions, the questions include topics like these:
- In which stages of the EDRM does your team currently utilize AI
- Specific types of AI technologies which are deployed in your workflows
- Comfort level in using AI tools across your eDiscovery workflows
- Comfort level with utilizing autonomous agentic AI vs. assistive or generative AI
- Average percentage reduction in your data volume achieved, when using AI for early case assessment (ECA) or investigation
- What poses the greatest long-term risk to AI adoption in legal and eDiscovery workflows
- Confidence level in defending the outputs produced by AI systems used in your organization’s eDiscovery or investigation workflows (if challenged in court)
- eDiscovery or legal tasks you would allow autonomous AI agents to perform with human oversight but minimal human intervention
- Time frame for when AI agents will be capable of independently managing substantial portions of an eDiscovery matter with minimal human intervention
- In which specific phase(s) of the eDiscovery process do you most want to introduce or expand AI capabilities next
- Expectation regarding how the budget for eDiscovery AI tools to change over the next fiscal year
- How you expect the deployment of internal AI tools to change reliance on external law firms and ALSPs for data review
There are a few additional questions, but this hopefully gives you the idea. Again, the survey is anonymous, so you can answer freely. Consider taking the Comprehensive AI Adoption and Strategy Survey here!
So, what do you think? How is your organization addressing AI adoption? Please share any comments you might have or if you’d like to know more about a particular topic.
