Everlaw and Microsoft Copilot Announce New MCP Integration (Available Now)

The integration, available today, brings Everlaw’s evidentiary system of record to Microsoft 365 through Copilot where legal teams draft briefs, collaborate, and turn evidence into legal work product.

Legal work has always required attorneys to move between two worlds: the evidence that establishes the facts of a matter and the tools where those facts become strategy, arguments, and ultimately legal work product.

For many legal professionals, that second world is Microsoft. It’s where attorneys put pen to paper—drafting briefs and reports, collaborating with colleagues, developing presentations, and communicating their conclusions. Meanwhile, the evidence underlying that work may encompass millions of documents, complex datasets, and years of communications that require specialized technology to securely process, search, and analyze.

AI is creating an opportunity to bring those worlds much closer together.

That’s why Everlaw is introducing an MCP integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot, connecting Everlaw’s evidentiary system of record with Microsoft 365, the AI-powered environment where legal teams already work. The integration is designed to let mutual customers securely bring the facts, documents, and insights in Everlaw into Copilot-powered workflows, helping attorneys move more naturally from evidence to understanding to action.

The Everlaw MCP integration is live in the Copilot connectors gallery as of today for joint Everlaw and Microsoft 365 Copilot customers. 

Where Evidence Goes to Work

Everlaw is built to handle the scale and complexity of modern litigation and investigations. The platform gives legal teams command of the facts, insights, and strategy across every phase of a matter, with AI and analytics capable of delivering near-instant insights across even extraordinarily large document populations – hundreds of millions of documents or more. 

Microsoft 365 Copilot, meanwhile, brings AI into the tools and workflows legal professionals use every day. Its capabilities span conversational assistance and agents as well as Search, Notebooks, and Create—helping users find information, synthesize knowledge, orchestrate work, and turn ideas into finished outputs.

Rather than manually moving between an evidence platform, an AI tool, and a drafting environment, legal teams can connect Copilot to Everlaw as the governed evidence layer underneath their workflows. The Everlaw MCP integration gives Microsoft 365 Copilot access to a curated set of Everlaw capabilities for understanding matters, finding evidence, analyzing information, and supporting early case insights. The possibilities extend across the Microsoft 365 experience.

Put Agents to Work on Evidence 

Copilot Agents can combine natural-language reasoning with access to Everlaw tools to support multi-step legal workflows. An agent might first identify the relevant Everlaw matter, understand its datasets and metadata, locate a targeted population of documents, and then use that information as the foundation for subsequent analysis. Everlaw’s MCP tools are specifically designed to help agents orient themselves to the correct project and evidence before deeper analysis begins.

Find the Information that Matters

Legal teams can use conversational requests to locate relevant information in Everlaw by project, search term, Bates number, saved search, binder, and other criteria. Instead of manually constructing every query before returning to another application to continue their work, teams can more seamlessly bring relevant evidence into their Copilot workflow.

Synthesize Case Knowledge with Notebooks

Once the right evidence has been identified, Copilot Notebooks can provide another environment for bringing information together around a particular issue, investigation, or workstream. A legal team could use evidence surfaced from Everlaw alongside other relevant materials to develop a more complete understanding of an issue before drafting or making a strategic decision.

These examples are only a starting point. Everlaw’s MCP integrations are intentionally designed as an open foundation, giving attorneys and legal teams flexibility to develop the workflows that make sense for their matters, rather than confining them to a fixed set of predefined use cases.

Powerful AI Starts with Trust

Connecting AI to evidence is only useful if legal teams can maintain control over that evidence.

Everlaw’s MCP integrations are designed so the underlying case record remains governed in Everlaw. 

The integration applies Everlaw’s existing permissions and access controls, so an AI assistant can access only the information available to the authenticated user. Data is accessed on demand rather than requiring teams to create a separate long-term copy of the case corpus in another AI workspace.

That architecture matters for legal work, where confidentiality, auditability, defensibility, and control are fundamental requirements rather than optional features.

It also reflects a broader philosophy behind Everlaw’s approach to AI: Legal teams shouldn’t have to choose between the AI applications they want and the governance their work demands.
