It’s the final day! 🙂 The International Legal Technology Association’s (ILTA) annual conference ILTACON 2021 is being conducted this week and it is a hybrid event being conducted both in-person and virtual. And we have already had several interesting sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, including those profiled here, here and here! Here are the ILTACON 2021 Thursday sessions and happenings, including one I’m participating in!
Each day at ILTACON 2021, eDiscovery Today will highlight notable sessions for the day – in most cases, those sessions will relate to eDiscovery, cybersecurity, data privacy, information governance or artificial intelligence (as well as a few other happenings during the week). Many sessions are available both in-person and virtually, but I will note when certain sessions are only available onsite for your consideration. All times PT.
ILTACON 2021 Thursday Sessions and Happenings:
11:00am-12:15pm:
Better Together? E-discovery with Teams and Other Collaboration Platforms
Recent conditions and software improvements have fueled the rise of non-email-based collaboration tools. As practitioners of e-discovery, we will discuss how we adapt our workflows, processes and mindsets, which were largely formed around the collection, processing, analysis, review and production of email material, to these new platforms.
Speakers: Doug Austin – Editor, eDiscovery Today; Damon Goduto – Partner, Lineal Services; Rose Jones – Director of E-Discovery Project Management, King & Spalding LLP; Jack Thompson – Sr. Manager – eDiscovery & Legal Operations, Sanofi, Martin Tully – Partner, Redgrave LLC
2:30pm-3:30pm:
1812 Overtur(n)es: Quality Control in the Era of Remote Review Teams
The reviewers for your matters, no matter how large or complex, likely have spent much of the last year working from home, a practice that is expected to continue going forward, at least to some degree. That reality has required many adaptations in how these document reviews are conducted. While data security and process integrity remain foremost in mind, there are also questions to be asked, experiences to be shared and lessons to be learned with respect to review training and quality control. How are review managers training review teams effectively, orienting them on nuanced case developments quickly and ensuring quality, performance and consistency across team members and document productions, with minimal, if any, opportunities for in-person interaction and supervision? Join us for a practical and engaging discussion of these challenges and some approaches to them.
Speakers: Esther Birnbaum – eDiscovery Counsel, Interactive Brokers; Rachel McAdams – Legal Technology and eDiscovery Senior Manager, A&L Goodbody Solicitors; Jeanne Somma – CLO
And there’s another livestreamed comedy act at 6:30pm! Tonight, it’s Andy Forrester. That’s part of the closing reception for in-person attendees where pajama bottoms are encouraged to reflect the business on the top, party on the bottom world we all live in these days!
Here is a session grid for the week.
So, what do you think? Are you attending any of the ILTACON 2021 Thursday sessions? If you’re here in person, look me up! Better yet, come to our session at 11am! And please share any comments you might have or if you’d like to know more about a particular topic.
